IMF raises Russian 2025 economic growth forecast slightly, to 1.5% from 1.4%
MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax) - The International Monetary Fund has raised its forecast for Russian economic growth in 2025 slightly, to 1.5% from 1.4%, the IMF said in its April World Economic Outlook, published on Tuesday.
The forecast was raised by 0.1 percentage points in January also.
The IMF's forecast is still way below that of the Russian Economic Development Ministry, which has left its September outlook for growth in 2025 unchanged at 2.5%. But the IMF's updated forecast is within the Central Bank of Russia's forecast range of 1%-2% growth. The Central Bank will unveil its updated medium-term macroeconomic forecast on April 25.
The IMF's forecast for Russia in 2026 has been lowered 0.3 percentage points to 0.9%.
Its forecast for global economic growth in 2025 has been lowered to 2.8% from 3.3%.
