Russian deputy PM, acting Kursk region governor discuss preparations for reopening int'l airport
MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev and acting Kursk region governor Alexander Khinshtein have discussed preparations for resuming the operations of the international airport in the city of Kursk after the situation in the Kursk region is stabilized, the Russian government said in a statement on its website.
"A number of current projects and initiatives aimed at restoring the effective operation of the region's transportation system and improving the quality of life of citizens in the Kursk border region were discussed. [...] Preparations for resuming the operations of the international airport named after Gurevich after the situation in the region is stabilized were discussed," the statement said.
The parties also discussed rebuilding the area adjacent to the Kursk central rail terminal and the construction of a transport and transfer hub next to the terminal.
Russian President Vladimir Putin tasked the government on April 2 with elaborating a program for restoring infrastructure facilities in the Kursk region by July 1, 2025, it said.
