Putin sees potential of Russia-Qatar cooperation development in many spheres

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - There are many interesting projects with Qatar, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, adding that he hopes for joint projects in the gas sphere.

"I am certain that there is much more potential, we have many interesting projects, enough of them. We are effectively cooperating in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. I do hope that we will have interesting projects here," he said during talks with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar.

Besides, the countries are actively working on humanitarian cooperation issues and have many joint projects in the sphere of sport and art.

"I remember very well how you, Your Highness, personally engaged in it, you helped us get the right to host the Winter Olympics in Sochi. And we, for our part, tried to assist you with the organization of a world football championship in your country," Putin told the Emir of Qatar.

The relations between Russia and Qatar are growing stronger, Qatar is a priority partner of Russia in the Middle East, the president said.
