Russian Railways not planning yet to lift restrictions on receiving empty railcars from abroad, country has sufficient rolling stock
MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - The restrictions on receiving empty railcars from abroad that Russian Railways implemented in February remain in force, Deputy CEO and Head of the Central Traffic Management Directorate Mikhail Glazkov told reporters.
"The instruction remains in effect and will be in force as long as our domestic rolling stock is sufficient to ensure shipping the required volume of cargo. There is currently enough rolling stock for all types of cargo," Glazkov said.
Russian Railways reached a reciprocal decision in response to the actions of neighboring countries that have used this means to prevent rolling stock of domestic owners from entering their respective territories, Glazkov recalled.
As reported, Russian Railways on February 2 implemented temporary restrictions on receiving empty railcars from abroad.
The measure does not apply to railcars registered in Russia and returned empty from abroad.
