Ukrainian-EU transport visa-free regime automatically extended until end of 2025

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The transport visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union has been automatically extended for another six months until the end of 2025, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Ukrainian Communities and Territories Development Ministry's press service.

The transport visa-free regime was first agreed upon in June 2022. This agreement is meant to be valid for one year. In June 2024, it was extended for the third time by another year until June 2025. The automatic prolongation until the end of 2025 in the event of no negative impact on the parties to the agreement and the absence of violations became one of the conditions set forth in the renewed agreement, the ministry said.

Exports by road to the EU increased 42%, while imports by road to Ukraine rose 37% thanks to the transport visa-free regime, Territories Development Minister Alexei Kuleba said.

Kuleba said at a joint meeting of the Ukrainian government and the European Commission in Kiev in February that Ukraine hopes for the EU's support in concluding an indefinite agreement on liberalization of freight traffic between Ukraine and the EU, also known as the transport visa-free regime.

The agreement, which was in effect before the extension, expired on June 30, 2025.
