Ukraine resumes ferry service with Georgia - Ukrainian Railways director
MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine has resumed ferry service with Georgia, Ukrainian media said, citing Ukrainian Railways.
"Two trips were performed from the Chernomorsk port to the Batumi port on March 18 and 26 and the third trip is due next week," the media said, quoting Ukrainian Railways Commerce and Logistics Director Timofei Murakhovsky as saying at a meeting on the resumption of ferry service between Ukraine and Georgia.
The project involves the Ukrferry shipping company based in Odessa and UZ Cargo Poland, Warsaw-based subsidiary of Ukrainian Railways, he said.
There was no information coverage of the first trips made in March, Murakhovsky said. He urged businesses to use the service more actively.
As known, there had been no maritime traffic between Ukraine and Georgia since the beginning of the crisis in 2022.
Ukrferry said earlier that the Chernomorsk-Batumi ferry line would resume operation on July 9, 2024, but that did not happen.
