Germany to pay smaller benefits to new refugees from Ukraine
MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Refugees from Ukraine, who come to Germany after April 1, 2025, will be entitled to smaller benefits, according to the decision made by the CDU/CSU and SPD parties when drafting the coalition agreement, Ukrainian media said, citing the agreement text.
The new refugees will receive smaller benefits instead of Burgergeld. The rule will apply to all refugees who have arrived in Germany after April 1, 2025, and have residence permits consistent with the Mass Influx Directive, the media said.
Ukrainian refugees have been enjoying the residence status across the European Union since 2022 without filing for asylum. About 1.25 million refugees from Ukraine are currently residing in Germany.
