Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund aims to increase project financing 8% to $161 mln in 2025

BISHKEK. April 9 (Interfax) - The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) plans to allocate $161 million to finance investment projects this year, the RKDF told Interfax.

The fund's financing amounted to $149.3 million in 2024. It will thus increase 7.8% in 2025.

This year, $141 million is expected to go towards direct project financing, and another $20 million will be allocated to support small and medium-sized enterprises through partner banks, the RKDF said.

At the same time, recapitalization of the fund is not planned in the near future. According to the RKDF, its authorized capital currently amounts to $574 million, having increased by $74 million since the fund's inception.

"This growth allows the fund to consistently expand support for investment projects without the need for recapitalization in the foreseeable future," the RKDF said.

Currently, the fund is reviewing 27 projects with a total value of $274 million. These include the construction of a recreational ethnocomplex in the city of Osh, a multidisciplinary medical center with a rehabilitation unit, a hydroelectric power plant in the Jalal-Abad region, expansion of sugar plant production capacities, and other initiatives.

Several RKDF-funded projects are scheduled for completion this year. In particular, a ceramic tile plant and a brick factory in the Issyk-Kul region, a trade and logistics center in the Osh region, a sealed glass unit plant, a small hydroelectric power plant in the Jalal-Abad region, and a full-cycle fish processing enterprise are being prepared for launch. Total financing for these projects exceeded $74 million, the fund said.

The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund was established under a 2014 agreement between the Russian and Kyrgyz governments. Its mission is to promote economic cooperation between the countries, modernize and develop the Kyrgyz economy, and leverage opportunities arising from participation in Eurasian economic integration.
