EIB to provide 300 million euros to Ukraine for its energy sector's recovery - Kiev

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing 300 million euros to Ukraine for the restoration of its energy sector and critical infrastructure, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"Relevant agreements were signed during a meeting with EIB President Nadia Calvino in Brussels," Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the premier's post on social networks.

"In particular, the bank will provide 100 million euros for investments in central heating, the improvement of energy efficiency, purchases of necessary equipment, in particular, electricity or heat-generating units, 100 million euros for the implementation of projects aimed at the improvement of water supply and waste water disposal, and [we] will receive 100 million euros for the restoration of facilities for water and heat supply and waste water disposal and an upgrade of main social services in education, healthcare and the housing sector," Shmygal said.

The EIB has mobilized over 2 billion euros in emergency funding for Ukraine since the crisis began, he said.
