Gazprom carries out Power of Siberia pipeline maintenance without halting gas supply for first time

MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - Gazprom has carried out scheduled maintenance on the Power of Siberia pipeline this spring without halting gas supply entirely for the first time.

"Scheduled maintenance was successfully carried out on the Power of Siberia gas pipeline without halting gas supply from March 28 to April 4 inclusive. At China's request, Gazprom organized maintenance of Power of Siberia facilities in such a way as to continue gas supplies during this period in volumes specially agreed by the parties," Gazprom said.

Daily gas supplies to China via Power of Siberia were again ramped up to the maximum contract level upon completion of the scheduled maintenance.

The gas purchase and sale agreement via the "Eastern route" between Gazprom and China's CNPC states that maintenance of the pipeline's equipment and systems is carried out twice a year, in the spring and in the fall.

Gazprom began supplying gas to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in 2019 from the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia. The Kovyktinskoye field in the Irkutsk Region was connected to the system in 2022. The pipeline reached full export capacity of 38 billion cubic meters per year in December 2024.
