European Commission provides 3.5 billion euros to Ukraine as part of another Ukraine Facility tranche
MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine has received 3.5 billion euros from the European Union as part of the Ukraine facility instrument on Tuesday, the tranche comprises 3.1 billion euros in concessional financing and 400 million euros in grant support, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.
"Ukraine has attracted the first tranche as part of Ukraine Facility in 2025. The state budget has already received a total of 19.6 billion euros under the program," Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said.
In 2025, Ukraine Facility envisages financial support to Ukraine in the amount of about 12.5 billion euros, including 1.5 billion euros in grant support, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry said.
Ukraine met 13 key indicators determined by the Ukraine Facility Plan by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024, thus enabling to attract the relevant tranche, the ministry said.
The EU remains the largest donor of budgetary support to Ukraine, it said. Ukraine received 7.5 billion euros from the EU in January-March 2025. These funds are allocated for the primary needs in the social and humanitarian spheres.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the country received international support in the amount of $9.6 billion in Q1 2025, including $6.5 billion in March.
The updated program with the International Monetary Fund envisages that external financing Ukraine needs to cover the deficit this year would stand at $39.8 billion under the baseline scenario involving the end of the crisis late this year.
