Gas consumption in Ukraine projected at 21.8 bcm-22 bcm in 2025 - deputy energy minister

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - Gas consumption in Ukraine is expected to stand at 21.8 billion cubic meters to 22 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2025, Ukrainian media cited Deputy Energy Minister Nikolai Kolesnik as saying at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada's energy committee.

"In our estimates, we expect consumption to be higher than last year due to certain changes, including air temperature. It will stand at 21.8 bcm to 22 bcm," Kolesnik said.

He also declined to provide any precise forecast for the country's total gas production, adding that Ukraine is taking measures to stabilize some part of production with the help of private and state-owned companies. The final results for 2025 will depend on it, he said.

It was reported with reference to Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine Executive Director Artyom Petrenko that Ukraine produced 19.1 bcm of natural gas in 2024, which is 400 million cubic meters more than in 2023 (18.7 bcm), and 600 mcm more than in 2022 (18.5 bcm).
