EBRD approves up to 270-mln euro loan for Naftogaz - Kiev
MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a 270-million-euro loan for Naftogaz to purchase natural gas for the next two heating seasons, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal was quoted by Ukrainian media as saying in a statement on social media.
"The EBRD Board of Directors has agreed to provide Ukraine with 270 million euros for the purchase of gas for the next two heating seasons. In addition, the government of Norway will provide 140 million euros via the EBRD," Shmygal said.
This funding will help Ukraine accumulate gas reserves in the underground gas storage facilities for the next heating season, he added.
