Armenian PM Pashinyan says ready to sign peace agreement with Azerbaijan, Baku sets 2 preconditions
YEREVAN/BAKU. March 19 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said he is ready to sign the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"The draft of Peace Agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is agreed and waiting to be signed. I'm ready to put my signature under the agreed draft," Pashinyan wrote on his social account on Wednesday.
Yerevan and Baku announced on March 13 that they concluded negotiations on finalizing the text of the peace agreement.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry said it was prepared to start consultations with Baku on possible dates and venue of signing the document.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Wednesday that, while Baku and Yerevan have concluded negotiations on the text of the peace agreement, in order for this document to be signed, Armenia is supposed to make the required amendments to its constitution to eliminate territorial claims on Azerbaijan.
Bayramov also said it was important to liquidate the OSCE Minsk Group and other related institutions, which Azerbaijan views as no longer relevant.
