Inter RAO subsidiary plans to develop feasibility study for Kiwira TPP project in Tanzania in 2025
MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - Inter RAO Export - Project Management LLC, part of Inter RAO Group , plans to work on the Kiwira Thermal Power Plant (TPP) project in Tanzania in 2025, the company said.
This year, the focus will be on developing the technical and economic feasibility study for the project, including contracting the relevant subcontractor from the Russian side. The report does not specify the capacity of the planned power plant.
According to open sources, the majority of Tanzania's energy system (over 90%) relies on the use of firewood as fuel. The country's most powerful power plant is the Kidatu Hydroelectric Power Plant (204 MW), but its operation is unstable and unreliable due to issues with droughts.
Inter RAO Export - Project Management also plans to work on a contract in 2025 for inspecting equipment supplied by JSC ZiO and Voronezh Transformer LLC to the construction site of the Machala Combined Cycle Power Plant in Ecuador.
Inter RAO Export - Project Management LLC is part of Inter RAO Group (99.95% owned by PJSC Inter RAO and 0.047% by its subsidiary Aktiv-Energiya LLC). It also owns 100% of Inter RAO - Export LLC, established in 2011 to develop international business in the supply of energy equipment and engineering, including the construction, reconstruction and repair of energy facilities.
Inter RAO - Export is implementing projects for the construction and modernization of power facilities in Cuba and Ecuador.
