Russia, Uzbekistan boost trade turnover 5.2% to $10 bln in 2024 - first deputy PM

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russia and Uzbekistan ramped up trade turnover 5.2% year-on-year to $10 billion in 2024 according to preliminary estimates, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said following a meeting with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev.

"According to preliminary estimates, mutual trade turnover increased 5.2% and exceeded $10 billion by the end of last year. Meantime, there has been an increase in both Russian exports and imports from Uzbekistan," Manturov said in a statement from the Russian Cabinet of Ministers.

Khodjaev notably referenced to Uzbekistan's estimates that the volume of mutual trade between the two countries totaled $11.7 billion in 2024.

Manturov and Khodjaev are co-chairs of the Russia-Uzbekistan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. The two parties discussed priority issues regarding bilateral cooperation during the meeting in Moscow, with Manturov emphasizing the significant potential of interregional cooperation. The Russian government has recalled that the countries' respective presidents had a meeting of the council of regions of Russia and Uzbekistan in 2024, following which documents on cooperation totaling over 220 billion rubles were signed.
