Russia has cut egg imports 15% this year - Rosselkhoznadzor

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - Russia has reduced imports of edible chicken eggs 15% this year amid growth in domestic production, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said.

Citing data from the VetIS Federal State Information System, Rosselkhoznadzor said that Russia had imported 144.2 million eggs as of March 7 this year versus 170.5 million eggs for the same period last year owing to growth in domestic production.

Russia's poultry enterprises increased egg production to 3.355 billion eggs in January this year from 3.173 billion eggs in January 2024.
