Rosseti expands capacity at Elga

YAKUTSK. March 10 (Interfax) - Rosseti has launched a new power transmission line and expanded the 220-kV Elgaugol substation for developing the Elga coal project, the press service of the Russian power grid holding said.

The company specifically built a 268-km power transmission line to the 220-kV Prizeyskaya power distribution center totaling 29 billion rubles.

Diesel generators supplied electricity when coal mining began at Elga in 2011. The enterprise was connected to the Unified Energy System (UES) of Russia in 2019, with Rosseti constructing the 125-MVA Elgaugol substation and the 220-kV Prizeyskaya-Elgaugol No. 1 line for this purpose. A second 125-MVA autotransformer has been launched at the substation to operate in tandem with the new 220-kV Prizeyskaya-Elgaugol No. 2 line.

Capacity supplied to the consumer is planned to jump nearly 2.5-fold to 108 MW from 44 MW going forward, the press service said.
