Russian govt resolution on compensating 25% of costs for salmon hatcheries signed

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - A Russian government resolution on compensating 25% of the actual costs of creating or modernizing hatcheries for salmon species has been signed, the government's press service said.

The resolution pertains to hatcheries where salmon and trout are cultivated and which have been constructed or modernized and subsequently put into operation no earlier than 2024. The compensation will cover expenses not only for premises and equipment but also for laboratories, pumping stations, boiler rooms, engineering networks and software, provided that all such facilities constitute a unified technological cycle.

"State support will stimulate the creation of domestic hatcheries for breeding salmon species," the press service said.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the introduction of the state support measure during a meeting with deputy prime ministers on March 3. It should enhance the reliability of the fishery sector, he said.

The practice of compensating part of the direct costs incurred in creating and modernizing agricultural facilities, by decision of the government, began in 2018. Currently, such support mechanisms are in place for the creation and modernization of dairy farms, sheep farming complexes, fruit and vegetable storage facilities, breeding and seed production centers and centers for producing genetic material in poultry farming. Part of the costs is also reimbursed for the construction of enterprises producing dry milk products for baby food, of facilities for flax processing and of facilities for producing feed for aquaculture.
