Russia's Gardens of Stavropol fruit nursery begins sapling deliveries to India - authorities

PYATIGORSK. March 7 (Interfax) - Fruit Association Gardens of Stavropol LLC, one of the largest fruit nurseries in Russia, has sent its first batch of apple saplings to India, the head of Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov said.

"The varieties were chosen together with Indian specialists - those that best suit India's soils and climate. The first shipment included 100,000 saplings. In the future, Indian partners are ready to sign a contract for the supply of 500,000 saplings annually," Vladimirov said on his Telegram channel.

Russian apple saplings have not previously been supplied to the country.

With the use of state support funds, the fruit nursery plans to grow around 3.9 million apple saplings in 2025, which is almost a third more than in 2024, Vladimirov said.

The chairman of the company's board of directors and head of the Association of Nursery Growers and Gardeners of Stavropol Territory, Aidyn Shirinov, previously told Interfax that the nursery plans to plant over 4 million saplings in 2025, which is 20%-30% more than the previous year.

The Gardens of Stavropol Fruit Association specializes in stone fruit and pome fruit tree crops for industrial intensive horticulture. The company's structure includes several farms in Stavropol Territory and Karachay-Cherkessia.
