Legendagro begins construction of maritime grain terminal in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. March 6 (Interfax) - The Russian-Chinese group Legendagro has started the design and construction of a specialized maritime grain terminal in Primorye Territory, CEO of Legendagro Primorye (the group's base company) Dmitry Savenkov was quoted as saying by the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC).

It is planned that the project will be implemented as part of the Bolshoi Kamen advanced development territory. The amount of investment has not been disclosed.

To date, total investment in all of the group's projects has exceeded 4 billion rubles, Savenkov said.

"Currently, the Legendagro group employs over 400 people. The group has become the largest exporter of grains and oilseeds in the Far Eastern Federal District and the largest rice-growing enterprise in Primorye Territory," he said.

It was previously reported that Legendagro plans to build a specialized grain port in the Sukhodol Bay in Primorye. The first phase, with a capacity of 1 million tonnes of cargo per year, is scheduled for launch in 2025, with the capacity expected to reach 3 million tonnes per year by 2027.

The Legendagro Group includes JSC Legendagro Holding, JSC Legendagro Niva, Legendagro Primorye LLC (a crop production company and a resident of the Mikhailovsky advanced development territory in Primorye), Legendagro Logistics LLC and Legendagro Amur LLC (logistics companies), Trading House Legendagro LLC, Port Legendagro LLC (engaged in transshipment of agricultural products) and JSC Legendagro Biotechnology K (engaged in processing agricultural products).

JSC Legendagro Holding represents an agricultural investment platform for Russia, jointly established by Chinese strategic investors such as Beidahuang Group, Lenovo Joyvio Group, and Zhiheng Group, according to the group's website.

According to the company's 2023 financial report, the sole shareholder is the Chinese holding Joyvio Beidahuang Agricultural Holdings (JBA), and the CEO is a Chinese citizen, Ren Jianchao.
