Resident of Free Port of Vladivostok to build processing plant at coalmine in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. March 5 (Interfax) - Zapadny Open Pit LLC coal processing plant plans to construct a processing complex at the Ilyichevskoye coal deposit in the Oktyabrsky District of the Primorsk Territory, Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) said.

The project will be implemented as part of the preferential regime of the Free Port of Vladivostok (FPV), of which the company is a resident.

The plant will be located at the Zapadny Open Pit coalmine, and its production capacity will be 924,000 tonnes per year. There are plans to invest 43.8 million rubles in the project according to the agreement with FEDC.

"The enrichment process will include selecting unprocessed coal, removing waste rock and reducing ash and sulfur content. The produced 'D' grade coal could be used as energy and municipal fuel. The production will cover the needs of the Artemovskaya thermal power plant (TPP) and other consumers, including customers from China. We also plan to produce coal briquettes from the by-product," Zapadny Open Pit Coal Enrichment Plant CEO Yevgenia Sharoglazova said.

FEDC data indicate that FPV residents are implementing 1,800 projects, 501 of which have been commissioned, in the Primorsk Territory, with 491.8 billion having been invested in the region's economy.

Unified State Registry of Legal Entities (USRLE) data indicate that Zapadny Open Pit LLC was registered in Vladivostok in October 2024, and Tamara Subbotina founded the company.

Vladivostok-based DV Logistics conducts coalmining at the Zapadny Flank site of the Ilyichevskoye coal deposit, according to the company's website.

The Free Port of Vladivostok operates in 22 municipalities of five regions of the Far East, and the highest investment level is 500,000 rubles.
