Russian court of appeal upholds over 8-mln ruble fine on Google - court

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - A Moscow court of appeal has upheld as lawful the imposition of a more than 8-billion-ruble fine on Google for dodging an administrative penalty, the court's press service said in a statement to Interfax.

"By the decision of Moscow's Chertanovsky District Court, the ruling pronounced by the justice of the peace of Judicial District No. 235 of the Nagorny district on bringing Google LLC to administrative liability in the form of an administrative fine of 8,008,684,193 rubles and 68 kopecks is upheld, the appeal is declined," the statement said.

Google was found guilty of dodging an administrative penalty.

In 2023, Google was fined twice for more than 4 billion rubles for failing to pay a turnover-based fine on time as part of an antimonopoly case initiated by the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service and for systematic failure to delete information, access to which is subject to restriction.
