Moldova, U.S. in talks on continued funding for several USAID projects - Sandu
CHISINAU. March 4 (Interfax) - Moldova is holding discussions with the United States on continued funding for several U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) projects in the country.
"We are holding discussions with the U.S. on continued funding through a number of USAID projects suspended earlier by President Donald Trump's executive order," she said on Monday at a joint press conference with European Council President Antonio Costa, who is on his first official visit to Moldova.
"We are continuing to discuss these projects with the U.S. to make it clear whether the funding can be maintained. If not, we will talk to other partners to pursue these projects which are extremely important for Moldovan citizens, including in terms of lowering electricity prices. These projects will be continued in one way or another," Sandu said.
Following the suspension of USAID funding, Moldova suspended the implementation of a number of projects in energy, infrastructure and regional development.
