Russian airports boost passenger traffic 0.4% in January
MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Russian airports boosted passenger traffic 0.4% year-on-year to 15.1 million travelers in January 2025, the Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsia) said.
Traffic increased 9% to 3.5 million passengers internationally. Rosaviatsia does not provide figures for passenger traffic within Russia.
The Siberian Federal District with passenger traffic rising 8.7% to 1.9 million passengers, the Far Eastern Federal District 7.4% to 850,000 passengers, and the Ural Federal District 3.8% to 1.4 million passengers were the top three federal districts in terms of growth in passenger traffic.
Passenger traffic at Moscow's aviation hub airports of Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo saw travel on international routes rise 4.8% to 2 million passengers in January. The figure for overall and domestic traffic at Moscow's airports is also not specified.
As reported, Russian airlines saw overall passenger traffic rise just 0.3% year-on-year to 7.85 million travelers in January 2025, with traffic declining 1.4% to 5.8 million travelers on domestic routes, while rising about 6% to over 2 million travelers on international routes.
