SOCAR mulls cooperation with Somalia on exploration, hydrocarbon trading
BAKU. Feb 28 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) president Rovshan Najaf and Somalian Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Dahir Shire Mohamed discussed opportunities for cooperation in the area of geological exploration and hydrocarbon trading at a meeting in Baku on Thursday, SOCAR reported.
The meeting "touched on the prospects for cooperation in various areas of the energy sector, including geological exploration and trading of hydrocarbons, as well as other issues of mutual interest," the company said.
The minister said on social media that he and Najaf discussed the possibility of cooperation in developing human capital in Somalia's oil and gas sector, including training of Somali students at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and advancing the skills of Somali specialists in this field.
