EcoEnergy Group expected to launch wind farm, two small hydro plants in Dagestan in 2026 at cost of 2.6 bln rubles - authorities

MAKHACHKALA. Feb 28 (Interfax) - EcoEnergy Group plans to launch the Makhachkala wind farm and two Samur small hydropower plants in Dagestan in 2026 at a combined cost of 2.6 billion rubles, the southern Russian republic's Energy Ministry told Interfax.

"As part of the Makhachkala wind farm project with capacity of 12.5 MW, a construction permit has been received and work is underway on signing contracts for the delivery of equipment for the wind farm, and preparations are underway for carrying out construction and installation work. The amount of investment will total 1.4 billion rubles," the ministry said. The wind farm will be built in the Novolaksky district.

"The Samur mini HPPs with capacity of 1 MW each are being built in the Rutulsky and Akhtynsky districts of Dagestan. One project in the Dokuzparinsky district is also being considered. The amount of investment totals 1.2 billion rubles. These are small but efficient generating facilities for districts that will be able to significantly increase the reliability of power supplies to consumers," the ministry said.

It was reported earlier that the Makhachkala wind farm and Samur HPPs were scheduled to go into operation in 2024. The ministry said the projects were delayed due to sanctions.

EcoEnergy Group, founded in 2015, is an engineering and energy company in the area of renewable energy. The group has operating power plants with capacity of 5.8 MW and a portfolio of projects in the works with capacity of 22.8 MW and a combined cost of over 3 billion rubles. The group provides engineering services and makes equipment for small HPPs and is developing renewable energy projects for other companies with combined capacity in excess of 500 MW.
