Transdniestria extends gas supply agreements with Russia's assistance - Transdniestrian leader

CHISINAU. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Transdniestria has extended gas import agreements upon the expiry of the 16-day supply by a Hungarian company with the assistance of the Russian Energy Ministry, head of the unrecognized Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky said.

"A mechanism created through long-term joint efforts to supply natural gas to Transdniestria remains in effect. An agreement has been reached for another period. Gas will be supplied to the republic in due time," Krasnoselsky said on Telegram, without saying for how long the agreement would be valid.

He thanked the Russian Energy Ministry and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak for "understanding the situation and doing systemic work to prevent a new outbreak of the energy and, consequentially, humanitarian catastrophe."

As reported, gas supply to Transdniestria started on February 14 for 16 days under a short-term agreement with MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG backed by the Russian Energy Ministry.
