Rostec establishes project office for Leonardo booking system in Latin America

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - An expert center for implementing the Leonardo airline booking system developed by Rostec's RT-Project Technologies and Sirena Travel will be established in Latin American countries.

"The region's population exceeds 400 million people. [These are] potential airline passengers and users of our system, to whom we intend to offer our best practices and services," Director of Development at RT-Project Technologies Alexander Kuzhekin was quoted as saying by Rostec.

The center will be based at the Venezuelan airline Conviasa S.A. As the initial operator of Leonardo in Latin America, the company is gradually expanding implementation of Russian services, Rostec said. In particular, the airline has been using the Astra DCS registration system for three months to handle passenger and baggage check-in for Caracas-Moscow and Caracas-Havana flights. This system is also being developed with the participation of RT-Project Technologies.

The official launch of Leonardo took place in 2014. The system includes a set of solutions developed according to International Air Transport Association standards and automates routine processes for airlines.

More than 60 carriers use the system in Russia. The contract with Conviasa S.A. was signed in April 2023.
