Nakhodka Ship Repair Plant plans to assemble Chinese ship engines
VLADIVOSTOK. Feb 25 (Interfax) - JSC Nakhodka Ship Repair Plant (NSRP, Nakhodka, Primorye Territory) plans to assemble Chinese ship engines at its facilities, the Primorye regional authorities' press service said.
Cooperation in shipbuilding was discussed at a meeting between managers of industrial enterprises in Primorye and China on Tuesday.
A discussion was held on supplying ship engines from leading Chinese manufacturers in 2024, NSRP representative Anatoly Smirnov said at the meeting.
"We agreed that the Chinese side could supply us [NSRP] with spare parts, including engines in parts. We have certain capacities and are ready to assemble the engines at the plant. Now we need to determine the brands and models, as well as the required quantity. The Industry and Trade Ministry has sent inquiries to 100 ship repair and shipbuilding enterprises. Once the statistics are received, we will be able to negotiate the models and the quantity of engines to be supplied," Smirnov was quoted as saying.
Representatives of the Chinese company Zichai expressed their interest in cooperation at the meeting.
"We are pleased that market research is already underway and that requests for engine demand have been sent out. We will provide spare parts for the engines and ensure maintenance services. With the support of our partners, we are ready to establish an engine production or assembly facility and localize production," Zichai Board Chairman Guo Liang was quoted as saying.
Nakhodka Ship Repair Plant specializes in shipbuilding, ship repair, constructing drilling rig substructures, and manufacturing metal structures. NSRP's revenue in 2023 was 8.65 billion rubles. Its net profit was 473 million rubles.
