EEC Council maintains duty-free e-commerce threshold in EAEU at 200 euros
MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved the retention of the current duty-free e-commerce threshold in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) at 200 euros on Friday, the Russian government's press service said.
"The meeting resulted in a decision to set value limits within which e-commerce goods purchased by individuals can be imported into the EAEU customs territory without paying customs duties. The duty-free import threshold has been maintained at 200 euros," it said.
It was previously reported that the EAEU plans to introduce a unified import duty of 5% for goods purchased by individuals as part of e-commerce. This duty is expected to apply when the duty-free import threshold is exceeded. Currently, the threshold is set at 200 euros per parcel, and under the latest EEC Council decision it will remain unchanged throughout 2025. Further plans include a phased reduction of the threshold to 100 euros from January 1 to December 31, 2026, and to 50 euros from January 1 to December 31, 2027. These parameters were previously outlined in a draft decision of the EEC Council published on the commission's website.
