AGR Holding, China's Defetoo to launch manufacturing of Tenet cars at Kaluga plant in Q2
KALUGA. Feb 21 (Interfax) - AGR Holding LLC is launching the manufacturing of cars under the Tenet brand at the Kaluga Automobile Plant, regional governor Vladislav Shapsha posted on social media.
Management of AGR Holding LLC and China's Defetoo, respectively, on Thursday signed the corresponding agreement on technological partnership to manufacture cars of the new Russian brand.
"Preparations for the launch of production are underway. There is much systematic work ahead with a consistent increase in the level of localization, from large-unit assembly to full-cycle production. There are plans to launch the serial production of cars in the second quarter," Shapsha said.
The press service of the regional government's governor said that there would be preparations for transitioning to full-cycle production, including welding and painting operations, alongside large-unit assembly. There are plans to launch of small-unit assembly in the third quarter this year.
Volkswagen Group Rus LLC changed its name to AGR LLC in June 2023.
AGR Automotive Group is engaged in manufacturing and selling cars, spare parts and organizing service maintenance within Russia.
The Kaluga Automobile Plant has manufacturing capacity of 225,000 cars per year. The plant is located in the Grabtsevo Industrial Park, a former Volkswagen asset.
