Atomenergosbyt head Konyushenko may become new Russian deputy energy minister - media
MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The current head of Atomenergosbyt, Pyotr Konyushenko, may become the new deputy energy minister, the newspaper Kommersant reported on Thursday, citing sources.
He will likely oversee the industry's strategic development, it said.
Several sources said that Konyushenko may take on the responsibilities previously held by Pavel Snikkars, who left the ministry and now heads T Plus . After Snikkars' departure, the areas he managed were transferred to another deputy minister, Yevgeny Grabchak. However, a final decision on the distribution of powers and the timing of the appointment has not yet been made, Kommersant's sources said.
The ministry did not comment on the information.
Konyushenko has led the sales division since 2016. He previously worked as an advisor for the Market Council association and as an assistant to the deputy energy minister. It was also reported that Konyushenko served as the executive director of the holding Energostrim for around six months in 2010.
Atomenergosbyt is part of JSC Rosenergoatom Concern . Until 2014, the company serviced enterprises in the nuclear industry, but after this point it faced the task of implementing Rosatom's strategy to enter the retail electricity market.
Currently, the sales structures are the guaranteed electricity suppliers in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
