Foreign investment in Belarus falls 10.4% in 2024
MINSK. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Foreign investment in Belarus fell 10.4% to $6.9 billion in 2024 from $7.7 billion in 2023, the Belarusian National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said.
Foreign direct investment fell 10.3% to $5.2 billion or 74.8% of all foreign investment, level with a year previously.
Belstat did not give a breakdown by country, but has said previously that most of the incoming investment was from Russian companies at more than 50% of the total, as well a Cyprus and the UAE.
Investments by Belarusian companies abroad fell 14% to $4.9 billion in 2024. Direct investments made up 80.8% of overall Belarusian investment abroad in 2024, compared with 91.2% in 2023.
Foreign investment into Belarus was $7.7 billion in 2023, up from $7 billion in 2022. It was $8.7 billion in each of 2021 and 2020 and $10 billion in 2019.
