Russia ready to share agricultural technology with partners to ensure food security - minister

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Russia stands ready not only to export agricultural products, primarily grain and legumes, but also to support partners with agricultural technologies to ensure food security independently.

Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut made this statement at a plenary session of the 2025 Third International Global Grain and Pulses Forum in Dubai on Tuesday, the Agriculture Ministry said.

This also involves the supplies of seeds, plant protection products, machinery and mineral fertilizer.

Lut affirmed that Russia's grain harvest is estimated at 130 million tonnes in 2024. "The harvest is expected to be 130 million tonnes at the end of 2024 after additional counting. This fully covers domestic needs and allows us to maintain a high export potential. Russia is expected to ship 55 million to 57 million tonnes of grain to foreign markets in the current season," she said.

Russia remained the largest wheat supplier to the global market, she said, noting the increased interest in Russian legumes. Last season, Russia exported 4.2 million tonnes of them, including 3.2 million tonnes of peas, which made the country a leader on the global market in terms of supplies of these products.

In total, Russian grain was supplied to 109 countries in 2024. The Middle East and Africa traditionally accounted for 70% of the total exports. At the same time, the geography of exports is expanding with 11 new countries joining cooperation and seven more resuming trade with Russia.

Despite global challenges, Russia stands ready to fulfill all its obligations to supply products and technology in order to enhance global food security, Lut said.
