Kiev says preparing to launch 4 reactor units at Khmelnitsky NPP

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Another four reactor units are being prepared for launch at the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant, and two of them will be launched in the first stage, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"On the whole, we are preparing to launch another four reactor units in Ukraine. There will be two units in the first stage to add 2.2 GW, followed by another two units made in the U.S., by Westinghouse, in the second stage, with another 2.2GW," Ukrainian media cited Zelensky's address made on Thursday evening.

"The plant construction is being finalized together with U.S. partners," he said.

As reported, the Ukrainian parliament adopted a bill on February 11 to buy Russian-made equipment (VVER-1000) for the third and fourth units of the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant from Bulgaria.
