Oil refining in Russia to be level with or slightly higher than last year in 2025 - Dep PM Novak

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Oil refining in Russia will be level with or slightly higher than last year in 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told journalists.

"I see no reasons for the figures to change. Perhaps even more will be refined, because at the beginning of last year there were more 'situations' that led to a drop," Novak said.

Novak said at the end of January that oil refining had declined 3% to 266.5 million tonnes in 2024, gasoline production totaled 41.1 million tonnes in 2024 [down 6.4% from 43.9 million tonnes in 2023], and diesel fuel totaled 81.6 million tonnes [down 7.4% from 88.1 million tonnes in 2023].

Production of coke and petroleum products in Russia decreased 2.1 in 2024, the State Statistics Service (Rosstat) has said. Rosstat does not publish petroleum product output by type owing to the Russian government's decision to stop publishing these data.
