Russian Railways expects passenger traffic to grow 1.2% to 1.3 bln in 2025
MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) plans to carry 1.3 billion passengers in 2025, CEO Oleg Belozerov said at the company management board's wrap-up meeting on Wednesday.
"The total number [of passengers carried] should reach 1.3 billion passengers in 2025, that is it will exceed the historical figures that we achieved last year. The growth drivers should be suburban train services and the metropolitan 'city commuter train' project," Belozerov said.
The company is ready to roll out large-scale construction work on the high-speed rail project, he said.
This would be up 1.2% from the approximately 1.284 billion passengers RZD carried in 2024.
