Backup power transmission line shuts down at Zaporozhye NPP
SIMFEROPOL. Feb 11 (Interfax) - A 330kV backup power transmission line has shut down at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, plant representatives said on Tuesday.
"The safety system has shut down the 330kV Ferrosplavnaya-1 power transmission line at the Zaporozhye NPP," the plant's Telegram channel said.
The Zaporozhye NPP is powered from the Dnieper western bank controlled by Ukraine through two lines, the 750kV Dneprovskaya main line and the 330kV Ferrosplavanaya-1 backup line.
"The plant's needs are accommodated by the 750kV Dneprovskaya line. No safety breaches have been recorded. Personnel are on standby," the channel said.
Radiation levels are normal in and around the plant and do not exceed background parameters, it said.
The previous shutdown of the backup power transmission line was reported from the Zaporozhye NPP on December 20. Power supply resumed two days later.
The Zaporozhye NPP with six VVER-1000 reactor units is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It stopped generating electricity on September 11, 2022. All six reactors are in a cold shutdown.
All plant facilities are incorporated into the Zaporozhye NPP federal state unitary enterprise and owned by Russia. The Zaporozhye NPP Operator, founded by Rosatom's Rosenergoatom, runs the plant.
