Exports of goods from Ukraine declining - State Customs Service
MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Imports of goods to Ukraine grew 7.8% to $5.5 billion in January 2025 versus $5.1 billion recorded in January 2024, while exports dropped 5.9% to $3.2 billion from $3.4 billion seen in January 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
Ukraine's January imports have been on the rise since January 2023, when they reached $4.8 billion, the State Customs Service said on its website. Exports in January 2025 were almost the same as in January 2023, when they stood at $3.1 billion.
"Dutiable imports totaled $4.1 billion [in January 2025], which is 74% of the total imports of goods. The tax burden per kilogram of imports subject to taxes was $0.49 for one kilogram in January 2025," the service said.
Last month, the largest exporters of goods to Ukraine were China ($1.4 billion), Poland ($487 million), and Turkey ($389 million), it said.
The main markets for Ukrainian goods in January 2025 were Poland ($352 million), Italy ($205 million), and Spain ($202 million).
Out of all goods imported in January 2025, 68% were machinery, equipment and vehicles worth of $2.2 billion (UAH 12.9 billion, or 27% of all customs duties paid to the budget), chemical products for $910 million (UAH 7.3 million, or 15%), as well as fuel and energy products for $734 million (UAH 14.2 million, or 30%).
The top three Ukrainian exports in January 2025 were foodstuffs ($1.8 billion), metals and metal products ($325 million), and machinery, equipment and vehicles ($282 million).
A total of UAH 22.2 million was paid to the budget as export duties last month, the service said.
