Tajikistan could boost aluminum output 26% in 2025

DUSHANBE. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Tajikistan plans to produce 108,000 tonnes of primary aluminum this year, the Industry and New Technologies Ministry said.

This would be 25.6% more than the 86,000 tonnes the country produced in 2024.

The ministry said OJSC Tajik Aluminum Company or Talco produced 82,200 tonnes of aluminum last year. It and machine-building, defense and chemical industry enterprises industries exported products worth $148.7 million, which is $38.6 million more than in 2023. Most of the exports went to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and European countries.

Aluminum processing inside Tajikistan rose 22.5% in 2024 to 18,860 tonnes.

The wholly state-owned Talco smelter was registered in 2007. Built in 1975, it used to be known as Tadaz and is capable of producing 517,000 tonnes of aluminum per year.
