Sandu attributes delay of acceptance of credentials from new Russian ambassador in Chisinau to 'disrespectful attitude' of Russia to Moldova
CHISINAU. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Maia Sandu said she has not accepted credentials from the new Russian Ambassador in Chisinau to Russia's "disrespectful attitude" towards Moldova. Responding to questions from a journalist on TV8 on Friday, she could not say when she would accept credentials from new Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Ozerov, who has been in Chisinau for four months now.
"He has not been invited yet to give me credentials," Sandu said. She attributed that to "the totally disrespectful attitude of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova."
"A decision will be made based on the situation and Russia's attitude to Moldova," Sandu said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Ozerov to the post of ambassador to Moldova on September 10, 2024. Upon arriving in Chisinau in October 2024, the Russian ambassador gave copies of credentials to the country's Foreign Ministry, but he still has not given credentials to President Maia Sandu, although several ambassadors completed that procedure in that time.
