Azerbaijani President Aliyev appoints new finance minister
BAKU. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on Thursday appointing Sahil Babayev as the country's finance minister.
Another presidential order has relieved Babayev from the post of minister of labor and social protection of the population of Azerbaijan, which he had held since April 2018.
As reported, the post of Azerbaijan's finance minister had been vacant since January 2025, when Aliyev appointed Samir Sharifov as deputy prime minister, relieving him from the post of finance minister. Sharifov had been finance minister since 2006.
