Kazakhstan ready to export up to 1 mln tonnes of grain to Egypt in 2025 - Agriculture Ministry

ALMATY. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan intends to export more than 1 million tonnes of grain to Egypt in 2025, the Agriculture Ministry's press service said.

The issue was discussed at a meeting between Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Egypt's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Hassan Ibtissam Rakha Ahmed, the press service said.

"In 2024, thanks to the measures taken and adherence to agricultural technologies, a record amount of grain was harvested. We are ready to export up to 1 million tonnes of grain to Egypt, and if necessary increase the volume of deliveries," Saparov was quoted as saying by the ministry.

Kazakhstan is ready to deliver this amount to Egypt in 2025, the press service told Interfax.

In turn, the Egyptian ambassador said that representatives of the agency Egypt's Future for Sustainable Development will travel to Kazakhstan soon to work on the issue.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of exporting Kazakh beef and lamb to Egypt, as well as the joint construction of warehouses for storing grain.

As reported, Kazakhstan harvested 26.7 million tonnes of grain in 2024. Its export potential amounts to 12 million tonnes of grain, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said. This includes approximately 10 million tonnes intended for Kazakhstan's traditional markets (Central Asia, Afghanistan, Italy) and around 2 million tonnes for relatively new markets (Southeast Asia, several EU countries, Iran, North African countries and Azerbaijan).
