Moldovan Energy Ministry announces tender for constructing wind, solar parks worth 200 mln euros
CHISINAU. Feb 5 (Interfax) - The Moldovan Energy Ministry will accept applications from potential investors until March 31 for constructing wind and solar parks with a total capacity of 165 MW, the ministry said.
"Of this, 60 MW will be solar parks and 105 MW will be wind farms. The investments planned for the construction of new capacities are estimated at nearly 200 million euros," the ministry said.
Investors who win the tender will receive the status of a major producer and guarantees for the purchase of their energy for 15 years.
The new wind and solar parks will support the government's plans to ensure that at least 30% of electricity consumption comes from renewable sources by 2030. Moldova's renewable energy generation produced 691,000 MWh of electricity in 2024, accounting for 16.7% of annual consumption.
As of the end of 2024, the country had 580 MW of green energy production capacity, the ministry said.
Moldova has three support mechanisms for green energy producers which guarantee the purchase of excess energy supplied to the grid. These are net billing (for small producers with installations for self-consumption), a fixed tariff for 15 years (for parks and power plants up to 1 MW for solar or 4 MW for wind), and a fixed price valid for 15 years (for parks and power plants over 1 MW for solar or 4 MW for wind).
