Production at Tengiz field rises to 870,000 bpd of oil in January - Kazakh Energy Ministry
ASTANA. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Production at the Tengiz field rose to 870,000 barrels of oil per day in January, the Kazakh Energy Ministry's press service said.
"Production at Tengizchevroil (TCO) is up to 870,000 barrels of oil per day as per the results in January," the Energy Ministry said.
The ministry also said that the figure is 45% higher than the average level in 2024.
TCO, which operates the Tengiz oilfield that is one of Kazakhstan's largest, announced the start of production as part of expanding the project on January 24, 2025.
TCO said that there are plans to increase the overall volume of oil production at Tengiz by 12 million tonnes per year by implementing the project.
The Tengiz oil and gas field is one of the largest in Kazakhstan, with oil reserves totaling 3.1 billion tonnes in the Atyrau Region. The latest published data indicate that the field produced 14.4 million tonnes of oil, or 114.6 million barrels, down 3.4% year-on-year, in January-June 2024.
The current partners of Tengizchevroil LLP are Chevron with 50%, ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. with 25%, Kazakhstan via KazMunayGas with 20%, and Lukoil with 5%.
