Georgia's Adjara Energy to invest $460 mln in constructing wind power facilities - authorities

TBILISI. Feb 4 (Interfax) - Georgia's Adjara Energy, a subsidiary of Turkey's Exim Holding, plans to invest $460 million in constructing five wind power plants and one solar power plant in Georgia with a total installed capacity of around 360 MW, the Georgian government's press service said.

"This year, the company will begin realizing unprecedentedly large investment, while the facilities will be commissioned gradually. Adjara Energy has been working successfully in Georgia in recent years, and is already implementing a number of projects," the press service said.

There is currently only one wind power plant operating within the Georgian energy system. It has a capacity of 21 MW. The system does not yet have any solar power plants.

Adjara Energy owns and operates the Kirnati and Khelvachauri-1 hydropower plants in Adjara. The Khelvachauri-1 HPP with an installed capacity of 47 MW was commissioned in 2017. The Kirnati HPP with an installed capacity of 51 MW was commissioned in 2018.

The company signed an agreement with the Georgian government in April 2022 for the construction of a wind energy park.
