Azerbaijan, Uruguay, Argentina increase butter exports to Russia since start of year - regulator
MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - Butter exports from Azerbaijan, Uruguay and Argentina have increased and those from Belarus decreased since the beginning of this year, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said on Tuesday.
Azerbaijan delivered 940 tonnes of butter, four times the amount it did a year ago (240 tonnes), Uruguay, 649 tonnes (versus 150 tonnes in January 2024), and Argentina, 200 tonnes (just 50 tonnes in the same period last year), Rosselkhoznadzor said, citing data from its national electronic veterinary information system VetIS.
Meanwhile, Belarusian butter imports almost halved from 10,200 tonnes in January 2024 to 5.600 tonnes now.
It was reported that Russia imposed a 25,000-tonne quota on duty-free import of butter until June 15, 2025 after its prices rose sharply last year. The measure came into effect on December 23, 2024. According to the Agriculture Ministry, 1,099 tonnes of butter have been taken over a month.
