Kyrgyzstan, China ramp up trade turnover beyond 10% in 2024
BISHKEK. Feb 4 (Interfax) Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China rose to $22.71 billion in 2024, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said.
"According to the customs authorities, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China reached $22.71 billion in 2024. The result confirms that our trade and economic cooperation continues to grow rapidly," Japarov said during an interview with the Xinhua news agency.
Trade turnover totaled around $20 billion in 2023, thus growing over 10% year-on-year last year.
The president's word indicates that the parties should focus on trade diversification.
"We are interested in developing mutual trade, diversifying it, and promoting joint investment projects in mutual interest," he said.
Kyrgyzstan's president said that increasing the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries plays a key role in reviving Kyrgyzstan-China trade and economic ties, which "is one of the important conditions for stimulating economic activity in Kyrgyzstan."
"I would like to assure you that the Kyrgyz side will take every effort and is ready to continue working to maintain the growth trend in mutual trade," Japarov added.
Kyrgyzstan's president previously said that the volume of trade between the two countries is showing stable growth. China is one of Kyrgyzstan's largest trade and investment partners.
