Deputy Energy Minister Sergei Mochalnikov dismissed
MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - Sergei Mochalnikov has been dismissed from the position of deputy energy minister of Russia at his own request, a government order (No. 171-r) dated February 3 and posted on the official website for legal information said.
Mochalnikov was appointed deputy energy minister in April 2022, prior to which he headed the ministry's department for foreign economic cooperation and development of fuel markets.
Mochalnikov was charged with abuse of office under Article 285, Part 1 of Russia's Criminal Code as part of an investigation into the theft of money at the Energy Ministry in October 2024, and he has been placed under house arrest.
